The Clerestory Windows
The North side
The windows on the North side represent Old Testament figures. They are the work of Messrs Hardman of Birmingham. Five of them were added in 1880 at a cost of £8 10s 0d each, being paid for by subscription. The remainder were added in 1882 - a gift from the incumbent.
From West to East the figures represented are :
Noah, with his Ark
Abraham, holding a knife, an altar at his side
Melchizidec, clad in priest's robes
Moses, with the tablets of commandments
Gideon, bearing a sword
David, carrying a harp
Jonah, with a whale at his side
Jeremiah, holding a pilgrim's staff
Ezekiel, in priest's vestments, holding a city ( the heavenly Jerusalem)
Daniel, with a sceptre in his hand and a lion at his side
The South Side
The windows of the South side represent New Testament Saints. They are the work of Messrs. Hardman of Birmingham. They were added in 1866 and four of them were converted to opening lights in 1890. Three of them were the gift of the children of Revd. R Wood, five the gift of the family of Mr R Attenborough and one was the gift of the domestic servants of the Parish.
From West to East the figures represented are :
St. Philip, carrying a spear
St. Jude, holding a ship
St. Matthias, carrying a halberd
St. Simon, holding a book and a long saw
St. Bartholomew, with a butcher's flaying knife
St. Thomas, with a carpenter's square and book
St. James the Greater, with pilgrim's staff and a gourd
St. James the Less, holding a club ( the Fuller's bat)
St. Andrew, with his Cross and holding the Gospels
St. John, with chalice, palm branch and a dragon
St. Matthew, with his Gospel and a sword
St. Simon Peter, with his keys
